It is a charity event. Why not put the money that would be spent on players packs into the charity? Even if the players pack is going to be donated you can ask for less value in cash to add to the charity.

How did we arrive at the 2nd Annual? I know Ron Pittman ran one a few years back. We filled his truck up with food and deliverd it to a church in 5 Points.

If you use the CEP, the player fees can be donated to the charity as well. The $50 sanctioning fee is all you pay the PDGA.

No $50 sanctioning fee = More money to charity.

No TD Report, No sanctioning agreement, No uploading scores = less headache.

Selling mulligans = More money to charity + more fun.

No round ratings = relax and have some fun and not worry about your score.

In my opinion,

PDGA=more players especially out of towners
More players=more money for the charity

Let's go with "2nd annual" since we haven't had consecutive annual events (as far as I am aware).

I agree with Chris on the sanctioning, the goal is to relax & play in a fun tournament while raising money for a very worthy charity that helps those less fortunate than ourselves.

Unless the CEP rules have changed, this is only true as long as you don't have more players than the $350 will cover. For the 2008 AAO Tom and I had to come out of pocket with roughly $200 in additional fees due to the high number of non and non-current members.

Edit:
I do not mean to imply that the CEP isn't a great program. I am sure it was part of the reason we had such a good turnout. You just have to be aware of the caveats.

with the player's packs and getting to play for the new 09 DGB bagtag placings, there's plenty of incentive to play in addition to supporting a worthy charity.

There will be PDGA sanctioned tournies just before and just after our Ice Bowl, so no sweat

Don't think were going to get many out-of-towners, here's just a few Ice Bowls going on the same day as ours...

Wall Doxey Ice Bowl - Holly Springs, Mississippi
Knoxville Disc Golf Ice Bowl - Knoxville, Tennessee
Joel Viggers Memorial Ice Bowl - Chattanooga, Tennessee
Second Annual JP Moseley Ice Bowl - Stockbridge, Georgia

then how can you play with mulligans, that doesn't seem fair, it should be regular rounds to determine bag tags. JMO

I can't speak definitively for Marc or Chris, but I would imagine thats why there are limit 2 per round and no other type of mulligans such as the 'dirty' mulligan. Remember, you too can take advantage

Still an even playing field for all, unless you choose to not to take advantage of them.

Also don't forget that the top 10 cash donators (I assume the mulligan purchase counts towards the total $ donated) will draw for the Innova Traveler.

I plan to also donate a sweet prize for the person who brings the most canned food

Yes, the mulligans, hole sponsorships & any additional cash you want to contribute all count towards the Innova Traveler Basket Giveaway

From what I gather, disc mfr choice was given as long as you used their IceBowl 2009 logo...and Gateway makes some really nice putters!
