Matt Dollar, Vach, John Matlack & others have told me they're coming. I think Hammock might be coming too.

Part of the reason we cut out 7-9 rom the original layout was because they were very short, uneventful holes. While 8 has the shule on either side to make a nice tight gap, the hole was still only about 250 feet... downhill. 7 has nothing in the way in terms of tall grass, etc, and from what I could see 8 was fine as well. Personally I'm not a huge fan of 6 currently (I think with 5 where it is, some people could easily hyzer out and at least scare the s*$! out of people on 6s pad) so we could just re-route from 5s pin and go back and play original 7 and 8 and then extend the current layout 7 to add some more distance, since thats what I was wanting to do anyway. We'll see. Obviously alex has last word on any changes but I definitely have some ideas I need to talk with him about before tournament time.

I wouldn't say that. But what I would say is that original 7 definitely wasn't anything too exciting. It really just got you to hole 8, which was different but not overly difficult. Then 9 was another really easy hole to get you to 10. I'd rather have as few "get me to the next tee" holes as possible. Just my personal preference.

I went out there and "tweaked" the layout today. I was able to mark all the tees and target positions, place painted directional arrows and flags and mow tee and target positions that were in need of some "landscaping".
There are two new holes...4 & 5 which are across the street from the tennis courts. They play between what was holes 4 & 5 during the practice round. The two holes that were removed that were played in the practice round layout were holes 2 and 16, which were both "get me to the next tee" holes in my opinion.
The new layout is there and marked well and ready for more practice rounds without baskets. Baskets will be out there early Saturday morning.
Here is a synopsis:
Hole 1 - Same target position, shorter tee.
Hole 2 - Similar to original hole 2 or hole 3 from the practice round.
Hole 3 - The long par four up the hill.
Hole 4 - New hole across the street from the tennis court - huge downhill shot.
Hole 5 - New hole coming back up to the tennis courts.
Hole 6 thru 16 - the same as the practice rounds with minor improvements except the hole numbers from the practice round were 5-15.
Hole 17. Same piece of land as the practice round but tee moved down by the amphitheatre and target moved out to the edge of the hill.
Hole 18 - Shortened the tee to force a shot down the left fairway removing the righty hyzer that encroached on the pavillion. Target placement is shorter as well placed nicely on the hill. Still not an easy hole with the ob creek on the left and roll-aways possible on the green. It's a nice lefty friendly shot or a righty flick.
I pretty much had the exact same opinion as Jay Woodroof about the practice round layout. I tried as much as possible to "fix" things that were problematic during the practice round and improve the overall flow and challenge of the course.
** The only thing I don't like about the new tourney layout......is a small thing compared to what was gained by adding new 4 & 5. There will be a Mando on hole 4. It really shouldn't be much of a problem. It was put in to protect the teeing area of hole 5. I don't like to do this but the only good, relatively flat, teeing area for hole 5 was in an area where if you shanked way left & short on 4, folks teeing on 5 might get hit. So this will make one aware and encourage you to stay right with your drive.
I think the new layout is an improvement from the practice round and I hope you all enjoy it. Like it or not, this will be the tourney layout so don't ask to change anything. :-)
The only thing that can be done (crossing my fingers) is that holes 12 and 13 get mowed by the city.
13 being the monster 1000+ foot hole.

I asked my dad if he knew where it was and he said if it's over near the mcdonalds it near where they recovered my old jeep cherokee when it was stolen about 10 years ago. that's really not much help though. I guess drive till I get car jacked then follow the screams till I see toms van?

I'm taking a hard count of baskets and we're still a couple short, although I haven't checked the list on the board at GW.
Please consider letting us borrow your all metal target to use on tournament day. I am planning on gathering them all up today and tomorrow on a trailer so I can put them out early on Saturday morning. Here are the firm committments we have right now.

The grass got cut on half of 13 (the monster) and all of 14 & 15. Did not get cut on 12 and 13's tee and top of hill. The rest of the course looks fantastic. It's a little soggy after the rain. I would suggest cleats. It looks fine, but after people start teeing off the pads will get a little sloppy.
Joe Thacker was out there today playing a practice round and said it looked great.

I can borrow my brother, IndyJonzes basket. dont know if we will need it but ill plan on bringing it anyway. its a nice, slightly larger than average metal basket. (knowing that most practice baskets, even the cloth ones, are slightly larger)

Baskets wont be put out til early morning. If you know where I live you can drop your basket by my house and put it in the truck or on PJ's trailer behind it, just be sure your name is written all over the basket with a sharpie or something.
