Not a bad week, all in all, three new courses.
On Monday, I checked out La Frenierre in Kenner, LA. (Just a note: I tried to play La Frenierre a few weeks back on a particularly windy day and quit after throwing my SNAC Pulse into the lake on hole eight. Never got it back.) They,ve got twenty-two holes and IMO, not one could be called a "signature hole". Met and played with a few older guys. They all knew my cousin from Metarie and were nice guys.
On Wednesday, I played Clyde Fant in Shreveport, LA. Interesting note, the park is lit and while it is officially closed at night, the local I played with said they often play night golf, if you can call it that with the lights. Again, the course posed no spectacular challenges, although they did make good use of small hills on a slightly rolling to relatively flat course with their pin placements. Oh, and they have twenty-seven holes, but the guy that was showing me the course, only played the "front" eighteen, thus that's all I played.
Today (Thursday), I played Spring Lake Park in Texarkana, TX. Twenty-two holes here. At least four, exactly alike. Think GW #5 in the short placement. Only, vary the distance from about 380 to 420. Y-a-w-n. Then there were their four new wooded holes. Two of which, you stood almost as good a chance of getting a birdie on, throwing with your eyes closed as you would tying to find the line. They were short, too.
All three of these courses could easily be played six to nine down by the average Bham advanced player in the configurations I played. NO :p , I didn't shoot six to nine down at any of 'em. But, hey, three new courses and about eight new disc golf friends. It's been a pretty good week. Hope yours has been good.
