As a way to meet everyone's schedule, and a way to get the tee pads done in Trussville, we are hoping to get individuals to "adopt" a tee pad. This adoption does not require any cash but will require some effort. We are asking that people sign up to complete the tee pad preparation/excavation for tee pads that we will be concreting first. If you sign up, we would like for you to prep the tee pad so that it is ready to receive concrete. You can do this anytime, at your own schedule. Please email me at jthacke@bellsouth.net to sign up for one (or more) of the following teepads. Bold tees are the highest priority.

2 Pro - Justin
2 AM - Justin
3 Pro - Joe
3 Am - Joe
6 Pro -
6 Am -
7 Pro -
8 Pro - Viktor
8 Am - Viktor
10 Pro - (this pad will be 14 feet long) -
12 Pro - Ditchell
12 Am - Ditchell
15 Pro -
15 Am -
16 Pro -
16 Am -
17 Pro -
17 Am -
18 Pro - TK
18 Am - TK

Each tee pad will be 12 feet long, 5 feet wide at the front and 7 feet wide at the back. The concrete will be 4 inches thick. All tee pads in the open (not 3 or 18) will need to be as flush to the ground as possible. The tee pads will be as close to level as possible from front to back and side to side. If you excavate soil, please dump it somewhere out of sight, and not in the stream. TK and I will check out the pads and schedule a concrete pour when we have enough tee pads ready (eight). We would like to schedule the first pour for the afternoon of Wednesday, June 21, and will need 6 volunteers for that afternoon as well. Please contact me at the above email address to sign up for tee pads/concrete pour day.

Boba, do you still have access to wood for framing?

Justin, Do we have a BDG email list? If so, can you forward this to there?

Thanks!

Joe, I'll distribute this to the email address that i have.

Just a quick question, when you say the boxes will be four inches thick, are looking for a _full_ four inches? If so what should i buy to frame these? Considering a 2" x 4" is really a 1.75" by 3.7"ish.

And sign me up for the Wednesday crew, I'll take the day off work and do any prep work needed that morning.

I thought of another thing....with these being 5' in the front, and 7' in the back these are kinda going to be like arrows in a way. I really don't want to screw up the exact direction you guys want them to point.

After i figure out which ones i'm going to do can you guys come out and maybe spray the rough demisions on the ground for me?

I should be free that afternoon as well, so I'll see you guys out there

Hey Justin, Don't worry about buying the wood yet; we might have a hook up there. Boba mentioned that he had some around. We will need 1x4s, 1x6s and plenty of stakes.

We will be glad to spray paint the outlines on the ground, if that will help. That will happen within the next few days. Typically, we will overexcavate the pits by a few inches each way to allow for some wiggle room.

Also, if anyone is interested in donating to the concrete cash fund, let me know!

Joe and myself worked on 3's tee's yesterday and removed the roots and stumps from both the pro and am tee's, i must say that it plays a hole lot better now that you have a little run up and not have to tiptoe over the roots!

I get that the bold ones are high priority, but what about the ones not listed? Are they not getting concrete? Frankly, 11 gives me as many problems as any other than 3 and 18. Its kind of down hill on a curve.

i think my crew and i will take care of hole 12 am and pro.

my crew will be a combination of me (chris mitchell) ben s, john s, jason h, wade h, phil l.

some combination of us will take care of it in the next two weeks. hopefully we're better at prepping tee boxes than disc golf.

if that goes well we might go after another hole... but i don't want to commit to it yet.

glad to hear that 3 has gotten some love.

Hey Brian, All the tee pads will be concrete, we are just trying to prioritize and spend what money we have on the pads that need the most help. If you want to adopt Hole 11, it's all you! :) A concrete truck holds about 9 usable yards of concrete, which should be enough for about 8 - 11 pads, depending on thickness. We will start with one truck, and when we have enough cash for another, we will pour some more. We hope to have all the concrete pads, tee signs, rules sign, kiosk, etc. in by the end of August. Keep your fingers crossed.

Number 2 pro is pretty much taken care of. It was so unlevel, that it was decided to not take any more dirt from the front left of the pad and just build up the back right. Should work out fine.

for about an hour today ben, phil and i hacked away at the 12 pro teebox. i'm not going to tell you that its done... but its a start. in my head i thought i was adopting 13... but anyways, we'll try to get out there next weekend. hopefully word won't spread about how bad it was and i can get some more peeps out there.

as far as the Am... i'm pretty sure there's a gigantic rock under it. this could be a problem.

Joe and Tim, I have cash for concrete. I thought Randy was going to donate the concrete and a bobcat?

This is all dependent on the positive cash flow of a small business. I have heard our boss talk about it, it is true. Right now the cash is just not available.

Joe and myself got 18 pro pad ready yesterday, also did some trimming, it should play a little better now, but still tuff!

I didn't get a chance to ask you Sunday, but are 2's teepads kind of what you are looking for?

With the sloping and such we (vik did the pro, richard helped me with the am) didn't really know what to do. It seems like if you dig that high edge two deep you're going to deal with dirt running over the teepad all the time, so we just tried to build up the back edge instead.

On #2 AM I don't think its going to be possible to get a full 10' of length, but then again its really an approach shot so hopefully it won't be a huge deal.

Vik and I are going to knock out our other pads this week sometime. Are we still on for next Wednesday?

Hey Justin, Hole 2 will work fine. It is very important that the teepads in the open areas (all but 2, 3, 17 and 18) be as flush to the ground as possible. The pads for 2,3, 17 and 18 will be elevated above the ground surface, and we will have to do some landscaping around them to keep them from being hazardous, aka 6 at GW. TK and I worked hard on 18Pro yesterday, and it looks like we will have to put up a short retaining wall on the east and south sides of the pad, which will not be that big of a deal. We might have to do something similar on another pad or two.

I will find out today or tomorrow if we are absolutely on for next Wednesday.

#8 am pad is pretty much done. it's just over 10 feet long. Wasn't sure if those needed to be 12 feet or not.

As much as it pains me....what tee pads are next?

I'm off all week next week and will probably spend a day or so at trussville prepping some more pads.

I would do 16 for sure, all the hard work is done on it.
12 needs working on, 3 needs framing it does not have to be flush to the ground.17 and 18 Am pad.

Hey Justin, I would start with pro and am 3, and pro 16 and pro 17. You can butt the front of Pro 3 up to the rock and not have to frame the front. Though 3 doesn't have to be flush, a little digging will make a better tee and reduce the amount of concrete we will have to put in the frame. Pro 3 should be 12 feet long, if possible. Some shallow rocks near the back of the pad might not let that happen! Am 3 should be at least 10 feet long, and inset as much as possible. We will definitely contact the City this time and get their help with transporting the concrete!

If you frame pro 16, leave about 1 foot in front of the frame, so that we can either grade it out or put a short wall there. It will need to be 12 feet long.

If you frame pro 17, leave a one-foot gap behind the pad for the same reasons. It should also be 12 feet in length.

Thanks for all the help Justin. We will name a hole after you!

Justin-

Let me know when you plan on going out to work. I would like to help frame the pads but am so inexperienced with this sort of work that I would probably be a better helper.
