Yep, thats called a wedgie.

It counts as long as it does not pop out before the player retrieves it, which is pretty easy to do on a putt, I did it with Monroes Shuttle Puppy. I also saw a wedgie ace on #15 in the short left pennisula position. Unfortunately he never ran down to get it. It popped out before we got down to the basket.

Haha....awesome man. Yeah, it counts! I had one that stuck, not inbetween the basket rungs, but it was hanging on the outside of one of the "nubs" so the top of the putter was facing me after i putted. I didn't know what to do either, but the guys in my group told me to RUN and GRAB IT!
