It is official, Michelle has accepted the job at the Denver Zoo. She starts on April 25th, and I will be going out with her, job or no job. I will get a temporary job so that we can afford to live out there until I can find a real job, but the zoo actually pays 50% more then the Birmingham Zoo, and Denver is just as cheap to live in as Birmingham.

I wish you the best of luck and will miss everyone. I don't know when I will ever be able to get back to Birmingham to play, but Kansas City and Tulsa are quick (8-9 hour drives for me). Plus, while Denver only gets 8 total inches of rain/snow all year, I will be able to snowboard in the disc golf off season.

Take care guys,

Kris Allen

That's OK, Kris, we stopped considering you as one of us a while back. :D Just, kidding..... Good luck to you and Michelle. Come see when you can.

I stayed in the Boulder side of Denver once and thought it had a great feel. Enjoy the new place, keep up the game. My buddy in Aspen keeps talking about their course and I saw it in DG Mag. so if its not too far you may want to check it out. Good luck.

Thomas

ps I never heard back from my "friend" in Chicago anyway, sorry.

The Mile High City is about to get a shot of the big D. Break out the light weight turnover discs and walk slow until you get used to that thin air.
When you go down to Ft. Collins say hi to Bill Wright at the Wright Life store for me.
Let us know what is like when you get settled. Happy moving, again.

Congrats Michelle! The Denver Zoo is much nicer as well! Kris, I would look in the Broomfield - Westminster area. Safer and cleaner and about 20-30 minutes to the Zoo.

The bad news is the courses are so spread out but, you cannot beat the Mountain golf!

Tell her to look into employment with the Aquarium as they pay even more:D

We have arrived in Denver. The mysterious elevation sickness passed both of us over. Infact, I have not had any problems dispite the fact that a couple of beers hits me harder then it used to.

There is actually a "brick and motar" disc golf store about 2 miles from my house. It is on the way to a close "pitch and putt" course 3 miles from my house. There are numerous pro level courses on the west side of town and the local club is building 4 more courses with one of them being close to a Gold Level design.

Next weekend, the owner of the store, myself and a few other people are taking an excursion out to the mountains to do some mountain golf.

The difference in flight characteristics is amazing. My light/beat-up blue buzzz which I can typically throw flat and make it turn hard right only goes dead straight now. And my Pulse...flies like a Firebird!

But it is completely surreal to see the white caps of the Rocky Mountains in the background, I turn off the street I live on and BAM! there they are.

!amigo....mi casa es su casa!

There is a big A-Tier USDGC Qualifier about 40 mins from my house in June. It is the High Plains Challenge. I should be able to go to this one, most likely would be my first tournament since the 2006 Am Nationals.

Where did you set up shop? Sounds like the south side of town.

Aurora...which is due east of the City of Denver. But the majority of suburbs are north of the city. So on the large map of the metro area we are southeast of everything.

I know right where you are. I lived in Broomfield for a short while and then out to the MTNS. I am sure you will run in to Chauncey Donaldson at some point. Tell him I said hello and I am sure you and him can have some distance shoot outs as, that young man can throw. He use to live right behing the J Roberts course in Arvada.

Make sure you go to the Springs and play cottowood and or Ft. Collins. Man that brings back some memories the golf out there is awesome. ENJOY!
