As most of you now know, I have accepted a new job that is going to relocate me to Washington DC. It is a Project Manager position with a local steel construction company, my first assignment is DC, after that, who knows where I will end up, but we will likely be moving every year or so around the country.

I am leaving Birmingham on May 29th, Memorial Day. Michelle is coming up with me in Mid August when I am done training and we have a place to stay of our own.

I have truly enjoyed my time here in Birmingham with all of you guys, and never would have found this great game if my wife didn't move us down here 3 years ago. I will miss you all. I owe all my past/current/ and future success in this sport to a few of you, I don't need to name names, but you know who you are.:D

I will be back periodically, most likely for big tournaments like the Century 21 event in September, as my schedule will allow me to travel to tournaments too. I will still log in to the message boards, although I will stay off of club topics and decision topics pertaining to moving the club forward, someone who is 800 miles away really has no relevance to a club. I wish you all the best and I can see Brimingham growing into a huge disc golf community if this growth rate keeps up.

Hate to see you go, thanks for all the work around Birmingham. I think you probably started a tradition with the Golden George. And don't worry, I'm sure I'll be calling for some couch space the first time a tournament gets anywhere near DC....haha :)

Just kidding! We'll miss you Kris. I might finally be able to feel good about my game again. ;)

Enjoy DC, it's a cool place. Have a few premium beers at the Brickskeller (www.thebrickskeller.com). Only place I know of that you can get a beer that's 28% alcohol.

Later tater,
Ben

Congrats Kris! New job, new town, movin' on up. DGB is better for the time you gave.

Before you go, I have a CD of photos from the Golden George if you want it. I burned two copies and planned on giving one to Justin next time I see him. You want the other for a keepsake?

Kris,
I feel like this is the last page of my senior yearbook. "Kris you are sooo awesome. Josh+Marla 4ever!"

Anyway, MJ worked up in DC and we have played the ONE local course. Here ya go buddy http://www.pdga.com/course/courses_by_city.php?id=390

Think Brahan only shorter and you have to drive the wrong way down a one way street to get there! Is there anything greater than the Longest Arm in Southside being stuck playing a pitch and putt? :D

Josh

PS Seriously though, Marla and I both will miss you a lot. We'll have to call you when she gets stuck up there for a few days and I come to visit.

Thanks everybody:) Everyone will have a place to stay when they are in the DC area. Just give me a buzz.

Art, yeah just give it to Tom, he can give it to his wife, who will give it to my wife and I can just get it from her.

Josh, yeah I looked at the courses, most were 9 hole pitch and putt within 20 miles. But 44 miles from Fairfax is Seneca Creek, one of the best courses on the east coast. That will likely be my new home course, and will probably influence my decision to stay in Maryland while I am in the DC area.

See you at the Blast. In Advanced, muh ha ha ha ha!:D

Hate to see you go. It's been a great pleasure and a priviledge to play with you. And an honor to call you a friend.

First round of disc golf that I ever played (about eight or nine years ago now)was at Patapsco Valley State Park. Nice course from what I remember. Have since played rounds at:

Calvert in College Park, MD - Mentioned above as a pitch and putt, but depending on where you are and how much time you have, any disc golf course will work in a pinch.

Rockburn Branch in Elkridge, MD - Also a nice course. Watch out for the shule(in some places its deep and thick and those thorns are a bitch).

Seneca Creek in Gaithersburg, MD - As you alluded, its a masterpiece. Its beautiful and challenging.

Good luck and stay in touch.

See you at the Blast.
