Jeremy Drake has stated that I have the best stories coming back from tournaments. So decided to start a thread to document it all.

First of all, I think on the 72 holes I played at Banklick park...I was behind trees on putts on about 60 of them. Ugly ugly ugly. Idlewild is just a course that will kick your butt. I thought I was shooting over 80, so when I added up that score and saw it was only 75 I was very happy. Some really bad holes for me, some really good holes. I birdied a couple par 5's and par 4's but double bogeyed the easiest duece hole on the course, everyone in my group was within 10ft of the pin on the drive.

Here we go. My story.

Hole #7 Banklick Park. 209ft, down hill, ground is sloped 20 degrees down to the right into a dry creek bed, creek bed is 20ft below the bottom of the basket and about 80 feet away.

Round 1 - Throw my putter right at the basket, low. I skip up and hit center chains, but the back of the disc gets caught on the hooks and the disc spits out, and rolls down the hill. Upshot, easy three.

Round 3 - There is a bridge you cross over a wash area to get to the basket, it is about 40ft in front of the basket. I throw the same putter and it is fading towards the bridge. It hits the bridge, makes a slight turn towards the basket, SLAM! Aced it. It was the last hole of the round and made a bad round feel good. (And yes, I was not in the Ace Pot).

Round 4 - I start on this hole, and am top of the card. One guy from my group in the prior round is playing with me again. He says, "you going to ace this one too?" I throw my putter again, hit the bridge in the same spot again, and it turns toward the basket again......

Missed it by less then 3 inches. it went into the creek, upshot easy three.

I think I had that hole dialed in. LOL.

nice... aces always feel good. I wouldn't know, I've only been told :p. So how did you finish up?

Lets just say I averaged 918 golf for the weekend. Two strokes out of cash in advanced. Oh well.

Almost every drive was near perfect, but the nearly part put me behind a bush or a tree on all my duece putts. I wasn't able to capitalize on anything out there, so the tough holes added up quickly.

There was nothing inherently wrong with the way I played. For the most part, my drives were good, upshots were working, and putts were decent. But I was behind obstacles almost the entire time, I couldn't put anything together.

Getting a birdie 4 on #18 of Idlewild was a victory in my book. Typically, on the tougher holes on that course is where I played better.

There are a lot of good shots at Banklick. Typically an advanced player SHOULD shoot 6-8 down out there. It is simple and straight forward, just don't overshoot the greens.
