I was torn between Hartselle and Tuscaloosa Feb 10 but I think this time I'm headed to T-town. Everyone throws in tags who have them.

want to ride? please let me know sooner than later ;)

So it looks like if your not a tag holder you can not play. As much as I want to I dont have the $25 to join now otherwise I was planning on going.

hmmm, I dont know if this is necessarily the case Thomas. Might want to ask over on their boards to clarify:

http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/tuscaloosadiscgolfclub/

A couple of guys did mention to them they would buy a tag if they had a supporter level similar to ours, maybe you should bring that up as well?

Here's the last couple responses:

Hey Everybody!!!

Jason gave us the word …”sponsors ($15) and members ($25) only”…go ahead and post the fliers. The only other stipulations that I forgot to address are that:

1) The sponsors will receive a mini disc once we get them

2) The sponsors will be not be able to vote like a member

Once again…

If we could get a rough head count of people who plan on becoming “sponsors”, it would be greatly appreciated so we can make more wacky tags with our logo on it before the tournament.

In the future, we will also try to make different playing divisions to accommodate all player levels, get ready for a much larger crowd including nonmembers and non-sponsors, and host multiple rounds of play. We didn’t have multiple rounds this time because we’re voting on a few issues that might take some time to discuss with the entire club.

Thanks for bearing with us…see ya’ll on Saturday!

Jebb/Jon,

Sorry for the confusion but we are reconsidering this due to the high intrest that this mini has generated. Please allow the officers to discuss this in detail and have a final word by close of bussiness today.

Thanks!

Jason Miller
TDGC President

This last message I got this morning - sounds like they may open it up.

Hey guys,

Sorry for our bad orgainization. I've been out of town for a few days and I thought that this had already been disseminated. I want to tell you guys that you are more than welcome to come over and play on Saturday, even if you are not a member of our club. I think that we've decided to do 2 divisions for the mini (1 will be and Int division and 1 will be for Adv/Pro players). I think that we are going to make it $5/$10 respectively to mirror what you guys are doing. This will only be 1 round starting around 11:00, with signup from 10:00-11:00. I think that we are going to move to doing 2 rounds in the future, but we just didn't get everything organized very well. Hope to see some of you guys this weekend.

In light of all we worked out yesterday - we'd be glad to have all B"hammers" over to see us... In all the questions that lit up yesterday, we (I) forgot the main purpose of our club somehow - promote the sport of disc golf... I apologize for this - but maybe all my recent time spent with a good looking woman has been tampering with my mind...ZOINK!!!

Who is going to T-town? Who wants to meet and ride? Lets make a plan. I know Chris R is out of town until Sun. I'll call Michael Fri as I dont think he checks here to often. Justin said he's out also. Jebb? TK?(they'll let you play advanced after GW's last mini) Jeremy? Tom?

I may or may not be going down by myself. My aunt and brother live down there, so I may swing by there after the round unless they're not around. And the wife may be accompanying me as well... we shall see

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDD DDDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Sorry to clutter your MB with this message. I have yet to get her to the disc golf course... I was debating on asking her out there to support me or not...I didn't want her watching, and getting bored, and making me or others nervous in my group... but then again, these are other reasons why guys like us should strive to promote females participating in disc golf. Once Tuscaloosa gets our membership up a little more, I'm sure we'll produce some ladies to compete with the B-ham train ladies... I'll ask her tonight to see if she might want to play/compete tomorrow... Is Tracey Petre coming tomorrow??? If not then I'll get Tiff to compete...I don't know if there is wine this time, but maybe I should go to fantasyland and pick up a prize....ok ok that was a little much....

On a different note....

TK - can you email/bring me copies of any letters from Trussville officials that showed that the disc golf course showed a improvement to the city? We're looking for examples of how disc golf has had a positive effect on their city to put into our big sponsorship informational packets. I also need to find out where you made those rad stickers (are those fundraising for your travel funds??? - If so bring some more and I'll buy them). Our logo and club name is pretty bad-ass and we want to get into the paraphernalia just like you guys!

See everyone tomm morning...I'm headed to the course now to freeze my fingers and get sick before the tournament... If anybody wants to come down tonight and bust some beers- they're welcome to stay with me - I'm having a party tonight with barbeque - find my # on the T-town files and give me a ring...

Hey B-ham players,
I miss understood Tuscaloosa's position on tags and wanted to clarify for everyone, the sponsor tags in Tuscloosa are strictly a tag to show that you donated to/support the club, you do not get a bag tag number to compete with, bag tags are only available to members.

Does that mean the sponsor tag is of no value in playing for bag tags?

DGB actually gives an bag tag to sponsors and you only pay $5.
That is a great deal and puts money into the club coffers.

Why not get rid of the sponsor tags and come up with a price for a sponsor that includes a bag tag?

You want to include people, not exclude them.

Thanks for coming out to play yesterday guys. Now you guys have #1 and #2 good job.

Bill and Thomas we are approaching the bag tags a little differently than most people do it. We are having a points race to determine an overall winner throughout the year. This will be comprised of your challenge record, your average tag #, your avg. score within a challenge round, mini results, and our end of the year tourney. Most clubs have the bag tags to raise money for the club, and don't really pay much attention to who has what, but we just wanted to do it a little differently to just include members. That is why we made the sponsor tags, so people could still sponsor our club, but if they are incapapble of playing in challenge matches due to their distance away from Tuscaloosa, then that particular tag # is not out of play. We aren't trying to exclude anyone, we just want to have our tags active and that just isn't logistically possible if you live more than an hour or so away from Tuscaloosa. We do appreciate your guys' support and look foward to playing again soon. Also Bill I'll need to get your address so we can send you a Wasted Birdie mini marker when they get in, and we'll also send you one of the sponsor tags too.

Play Well,
Jay

Jay,
I did not mean to imply that you are doing anything wrong. I was addressing the idea of using the tags as more of a fund raiser. There are many other ways to generate income for the club. Your rules sound like a great way to keep interest in the bag tag challange throughout the whole season.

You may want to look at ways to draw the groups from out-of-town to your minis if they are not able to play for bag tags. Maybe some special CTPs for out-of-towners.

Now let me say that of all of the groups I have encountered on the road, yours is without a doubt one of the friendliest around. We showed up from out of town and you guys treated us like we were club members. With that attitude, you have one of the most important ingredients for a successful club.

Best of luck to TDGC and all of its great members.

Boy competition...yall scrap like a bunch of old hens. Sorry Ttown if bham has sooo many good players....come on over and take our tags as well. If bill gets the job over in meridian then he's closer to yall than ours. If tiger or tk or bill gets your tag....youve been wooped by some of the very best. Pay attention and be glad to have played a round with some of the greats if you watch and pay attention you could learn alot....not to mention Mr. Monroe the sensi. TK still want to get with you for a left handed round. Shot a pair of 33's for a 66 today. Can't figure if I need to work on getting the 2nd shot closer or getting better at long putt's on the 3rd. Answer both. I guess if I could drive farther than 230 ft that would help as well. Oh well.

Most respectful and humble salutations fellow golfers. My post was to just inform folks in Bham Tuscaloosa's tag situation is different that ours. Nothing more nothing less, (insert your favorite happy face symbol here.)
