This Saturday we will have a workday at George Ward.

We will start promptly at 9am. There is not much that really has to be done, but we need to do it to get the course ready for the tournament.

We have to install 10 temporary mando signs, these will be taken down after the tournament. We will also need a 6ft ladder to put them high enough so people that do not like the mando's or the tournament do not tear them down.

Pick up trash around the course. Probably use a group of 2-3 people to walk the course with a couple of bags.

Rake up sweet gum balls and pine straw. Holes #7 and #17 are really bad, we at least need to clean up the inbounds areas. There are some fairways that have some natural debris in them such as fallen branches, we will need to pick those up as well.

After that we can break for lunch and head to Trussville for doubles.

---Added by Justin---

Doubles in Trussville will get started around 2 pm. TK put in the last basket this week so we will have a full 18 to play! Whats the first doubles round at Trussville going to score?

To get to Civitan park take 59 North towards Gadsden and exit at exit 141. It's the Trussville/Pinson exit just past 459. Turn right (east) and the road will narrow to two lanes. After about a mile you will see a brown sign for the Senior Citizens Center. Follow the sign, turning left on Oak Street. Pass through 2 stopsigns and turn right on the first road after the bridge. The city wants us to to park out in the grass in front of the Senior Center so look for other cars for an idea of where to park. We will have signs up in the future. See you guys there!

I don't have practice tomorrow and as such had planned on making a trip out to the course around 2 to play a round. I'll try and remember to bring a trash bag out with me to pick up any trash I see around and I'll at least try to clear out fairways if I can. If any of you guys who don't have jobs or can take the day off wanna join me, just come on out, otherwise I'll see you on saturday.

Kris- The second version of the caddy guide says re-tee if your disc is out of bounds off the tee. Does this mean re-tee if your disc is out in the air or if it lands in and skips out, do you have to re-tee?

Michael, this particular rule will vary per hole.

On all holes except where I will note, you take your lie where the disc last crosses the OB line. This is the standard OB rule.

There will be some holes where there are specific rules pertaining to what to do with an OB tee shot or missed Mando

#4 Missed Mando - Re Tee

#6 Missed Mando - Drop Zone

#7 OB on Tee shot (both skips, rolls or air shots, disc must stay Inbounds) - drop zone.

#8 OB on tee shot - Disc must come to rest in bounds - drop zone

#9 Missed first gate - retee
Missed second gate - drop zone

#10 Missed mando and/or landing in OB lake - drop zone. If OB beyond right of the basket, take lie where disc crossed the OB line

#11 Missed mando retee; if OB take lie from where disc last crossed line

#15 Missed Mando retee;
Disc must at least touch the in bounds area. If the disc touches inbounds and comes to rest OB, then lie is taken at point where the disc crossed the line. If the disc never touched the playing surface inbounds and the disc comes to rest OB, player must retee.

#18 Missed Mando - Retee

These are the only hole specific rules that we have for this tournament. Most of them are to prevent the Tin Cup Syndrome, others are to add intensity to the situation. All are within the PDGA rules of play.

Due to PDGA Sanctioning we will abide by all PDGA rules of play. http://www.pdga.com/rules/index.php

If you have any more questions please let me know. This is also why there is a mandatory player meeting at 9am. I will go over the caddy guide and some of the hole specific rules that will be inforce.

Kris, i think you should wait about putting the mando signs up until the thursday or friday before the tourny. That way they will be less likley to be torn down. Just my opinion. Plus it want confuse casual players just out playing the week before the tourny.

Alright that is fine with me.

Mando signs later in the week.

I really need a crew of 6-8 people for the Friday OB rope set up. This will take a long time, and I want to make sure it is right.

We will still work Saturday to clean everything up and get rid of the gumballs and pine straw.

Just a little heads up for you guys since you probably haven't been out to the course in a day or so, but a tree is down on 18. I don't think it will affect the shot though, it actually forms a kind of gate directly off the teepad

Nice...

We will have to see how it affects playability and passability.

Hopefully the parks guys take care of it this week.

lol, unfortunately it wasn't that one. It the first tree tree in front of you and slightly to the left. But like I said its not really affecting the shot. The top of it snapped and is now hanging and making an archway to throw through

Maybe some "strong winds" will come through tonight or tomorrow and knock down the rest of it...
