View Full Version : Trussville favorite...

GW has a thread, Trussvegas needs one too! :)
I gotta go out obvious first and say 17. Given, my experience is limited to ~20 courses but it's easily one of the greatest risk/reward holes I've ever had the privilege of playing.
With that one out there and ready I'd have to add 15 because I just can't freaking figure it out....

Very cool to get everyone's opinions on the courses (would love to hear from TK and Thacker on both courses.) From the two times I've played Trussville I would have to say my personal favorite hole (albeit a par is the best I've made on it) is good ol' number 2. Again a high risk reward ratio, but a little friendlier to us with shorter arms. Also see this hole working well for my sidearm once I figure the shot out. That being said, I've been dreaming about the 600 footer, I know that a good roller coming off the hill on the left side of the fairway could come close to the pin. And after seeing Michael's ace on 13 and being a superstitiously cool as numbers go, I would have to put it up there as just a great runnable shot with severe consequences if you hit the road or beyond... My list would also include 15, 17 and 18, but not so much because I can do anything on them, but they are fun to think about.

Again I would have trouble picking a single favorite at Trussville.
#2 comes to mind, with the microscopic green surrounded on three sides by thick privet and one side by a deep pit, this hole can be a real heart breaker because you can think you made a really good shot, and then you might be struggling to even get a three.
#5, even if it is an easy par 4, it is only such because a 2 is just nearly impossible without a 50ft+ putt combined with a near perfect drive.
#14 is one of my favorites....wide sidearm hyzer (for righties) or a tight tunnel shot just begs for a duece run.
#17 This is the signature hole, the combination of 17 and 18 to finish the round have created the two hardest back to back finishing holes I have ever played. They can make or break your round, and that is what makes them great.
I do like #10 - the 600ft monster, however you really need to have big arm to make the birdie 3 opportunity a realistic goal.
When you guys host an A-tier or rich B-tier event on both of those courses, I will be there!

I will have to agree the number 17, the signature hole, is my personal favorite. I love the fact that the only way you're getting an eagle 2 on this thing is if you can bend trees. It makes for a much more strategic approach than just "throw close to the hole"

I would have to say 16 is my favorite, it is a beautiful hole in the spring with all the flowers blooming behind the basket. As jeb said this is the signature hole on the course, this was the 1st hole we designed and worked around it.
A close 2nd would be 8 this is just a great golf shot to me.

Fifteen is starting to grow on me. I'm starting to figure it out and two great shots give you a shot at a three. Tough hole.

sigh i'm going to do it... i'm going to say that a short hole is my favorite.
11. it reminds me of my favorite at Brahan...the one where you can float one out into the parking lot and watch it knife back in, hopefully hitting that sweet angle.
i also really like #3 because before that hole i'd never faced one where you literally make a 90 degree turn. the first time we played it, we thought #4 was the basket.
despite my terrible performance in the tournament, it was nice to play all am tees out there. it causes less cursing of joe and tim.

My favorite hole at Trussvegas is 15, just because it takes two really solid shots to get a three. 17 is a close second for the same reason. For the record, I deuced it several weeks ago with a ten foot putt, so it is possible, just not probable. I believe all holes except 10 have been deuced, so that is the remaining prize.
Justin, would it be possible to start a Trussville Ace sidebar?
Can't wait to put in the new hole placements, most of which will be shorter. Hole 2 will be longer and harder. Hole 14 will likely be longer and harder, and might have two extra placements. Hole 17 will have a really cool twist, and you will prefer to go down the left side of the fairway. Hole 18 will have two more hole placements, one of which will be out and right.

Justin, would it be possible to start a Trussville Ace sidebar?
I think the main hold off for having a seperate ace pot for trussvegas was just that justin was tryin to make sure we had good numbers (and different people) playing each course. Cause if you have small numbers at one site, or the same people at both sites... might as well keep the ace pots the same.

Joe...Who duced 15? I figured that one would outlast 10, I thought someone would crank off an epic roller and get it before anyone got _near_ 15.
Also, when you say "ace sidebar" do you just mean a place to track what holes have been aced/by whom? I've been thinking about doing a page like that.
independent ace pot for trussville hole 15? (since it will likely never be aced) :p

THAT'S SICK!
Wished I could have seen that, and it is good to hear that Hanan is still playing.
