Our club members are going to have an end of the year Bag Tag tournament this Sunday. We are going to play 36 holes with a morning round starting at 9:00, and an afternoon round to follow after lunch. The morning round will be setup in the long positions and the afternoon round the baskets will be moved to the short positions.
While we won't really have a payout or many prizes, I encourage any B'ham golfers to come and check out our course, and play this Sunday. We will have an ace pot that we will give away, so you can put in your dollar and have a chance at that. The pot will be up around $100, and if noone hits an ace during the round, then 1/2 of the money will go to the club/course fund, and the other half we will have a CTP shootoff for.
If you have never played the Tuscaloosa course or haven't played it in awhile, then you should definitely come if you can make it, as the course has come a long way in the past year. So if you plan on coming then let me know, so we can have an idea of how many people are coming.

Hey Jay, thanks for posting up!
Is there an entry fee?
JayWood

There won't be an entry fee for out-of-towners, except for the $1 to get in the ace pot. This tournament is really for our local members, and it will be a $5 entry fee for them, but I just wanted to invite you guys to come and play and see what you think about our course.

Viktor and I are planing on coming over to check it out if anyone else from the b'ham crew would like to make the trip.
We'll be leaving B'ham between 7 and 7:30 to give us plenty of time to get there and warm up.
However can't make it can run doubles at GW :)

Its a fun, very beautiful course. Its tough with some great views off the tee. If you haven't played the course I think you'll like it, if you haven't played in awhile its come a long way as jay has said. I wish I could make the trip but I still haven't gotten cleared to do anything too active yet. I have a doctors apt tomorrow so I've got my fingers crossed

Would someone post directions from B'Ham?

Just get on 20/59 and head west. Get off on exit #73 (McFarland Blvd) and take a right off of the exit. Go probably about 1/4 of a mile and take a right on 37th St. (You'll see signs for Bowers Park) Go about a 1/2 mile or so and take a left into the park. You'll see the message board for the course, which is at hole #1, but since the road is one-way you'll have to loop around the park and come back to the parking lot.
Look foward to seeing some of you guys on Sunday.

Lets meet in a central place and ride together, maybe McDonalds on 31 at 459? Most of us are coming from south of downtown...ALabaster, cahaba heights, Hueytown...

Mind if Tracy and I meet up too and follow you guys? We don't know Tuscaloosa real well. What time you meeting? We playing for DGB Bag Tags when we get there? Not that we'd have much of a chance (we have 61 and 62 right now) but might as well be playing for something right? Maybe have our own micro B'Ham Tourney?

A better/bigger parking lot to meet would be Publix on 150/459 across from the entrance to the Met. Not as much traffic/congestion to deal with either.

I talked to Chris Roberts and he wants to go also. Publix is ok if there is food available, if not lets stick to the McDonalds. Traffic wont be bad either way at 7 am on Sun.

OK we are meeting at the McDonalds on 31 right off of 459. Thats the one across from the galleria. We'll meet in the parking lot at 7:00am and leave at 7:15. The info posting said the round starts at 9:00 so thst puts us there at 8-8:15 or so. I have spoken to Michael D and he will be there and he is calling Jebb and I am callig Chris R to meet us also. Anyone and Everyone who wants to meet us and we figure out rides. I am figuring on Justin, Vic, Matt, Tracy, and a hope a couple more can make it. I'm pumped.

A big thanks to you guys for coming out to Bowers. I thought that the course might have beat us all yesterday, but we really feel that it is a good test of golf where par is a good score. We hope you guys had a good time and will be back for future events. Jebb and Michael we really appreciate the support from you guys for joining our club. Also thanks to Justin for donating his winnings back to our club.
