The Tuesday 8/10/10 meeting of DGB was called to order with 5 of the 7 DGB club officers present. Course Pro Tom Monroe, David Brown, John Howerton and James Blanchard were also in attendance.
Non-Profit Update:
The club has filed paperwork for Non-Profit Status incorporation through legalzoom.com. The club's NFP license should be received in a few days. The club will then open a checking account at Compass Bank.
Membership Report:
Jebb Long provided a report on the 2010 club membership. Currently, we have 51 full members and have sold over 175 bag tags. 2011 bag tags have been received and are in the process of being numbered. 2011 Club Member packages were also discussed.
Financial Report:
Financial report was presented by Justin Littrell, DGB Treasurer.
Upcoming Tournaments:
-- The Alabama Summer Sizzler will be held at both Trussville courses on Saturday, Aug. 14th.
-- The Raindrop Festival Tournament will be held at George Ward DGC on Saturday, Sept. 4th
-- 2010 Ace Race is scheduled for October 30-31 at George Ward DGC.
-- Tentative date set for the DGB Christmas Classic Tournament is Saturday, Dec 11th.
Course Projects & P&R Update:
-- Motion was approved to purchase a new basket for the Civitan Park Lemaster Trussville course that was recently stolen. Club President Richard Brown will make arrangements to order the new basket.
-- New A, B, & C pin position course setups for George Ward are in the process of being finalized and should be complete by the end of the month.
-- Club President Richard Brown and Club VP Jebb Long will coordinate creating & purchasing the first new tee sign at George Ward for Hole 1. Once it has been installed, sponsors will be sought to provide funding for all other tee signs for the course
-- After meeting with Birmingham P&R, the framing and re-pouring of concrete tee pads at George Ward was approved. Work to re-pour the tee pads should begin soon. Keep your eyes open for a work day to come soon.
-- Disc Golf Birmingham is offering a $250 reward for info which leads to an arrest and/or conviction of anyone involved in the 2 basket thefts which occurred recently. Please report any relevant info to board@discgolfbirmingham.com - all information will be kept strictly confidential so as to protect the identity of anyone reporting information
New Courses Update:
-- The second Trussville course, Greg Carter Memorial DGC, is now available for play.
-- Update on the other possible new course was provided by Justin Littrell & is still pending final approval from the city's mayor.
Doubles Coordinators:
-- The club is looking for two Doubles Coordinators & two alternates to run the Sunday Doubles events held at George Ward & Trussville. Coordinators would be responsible for running the Doubles events, collecting entry fees, payouts, etc... Alternates would fill in if the Coordinator can't attend for some reason. There would be one Coordinator & one alternate for each course. Please let one of the Club Officers know if you are interested.
