Next 'Friday Night Flights' event planned for Friday November 24th @ George Ward Park - This one will be doubles!!!

Players meet Fri Nov 24 @ 6:45PM and we'll get started @ 7:00. Glow sticks will be placed on all 24 baskets just prior to dark. This will be a casual and unofficial DOUBLES event, random draw. Bag tag challenges are not planned since the mini tourney in Trussville follows the next day.

GENERAL INFO:

*Please stay in groups of 3+ for general safety.

*Be sure you either have glow disc(s) or 1.5" LED lights to tape on your candy discs, otherwise you WILL NOT want to play @ night. Tom Monroe has candy discs available in the mobile pro shop, but a limited glow disc supply. I'll have some Cyalume ($1 for 2) & Electro-luminescent ($3 ea) lights for sale the night of the event. Scroll down in this post for links to night golf resources.

*Bring a flashlight or headlamp. Whereas UV (blacklight) or glow sticks are preferrable to preserve night-vision, white light is acceptable - depends a lot on how well your disc(s) glow and if you feel comfortable finding it if it gets out of sight...glow discs actually need a good UV light charging prior to throw, plus having a UV lamp helps locate glow discs. If you're taping 1.5" glowsticks or battery-powered Electro-Luminescent lights to a candy disc, you dont really need a UV black light, but please bring a glowstick for walking down fairways, etc, plus its not a bad idea for the first shooter in each group to light up the fairway with a bright flashlight all the way to the basket 2-3 secs max primarily to make sure non-players are clear of the flight path. http://dev.discgolfbirmingham.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gif

*Play at your own risk!!! In the dark its much easier to fall, etc. Let it be known beforehand that 'officially' we're not to be in the park after dark, so a police officer or injury/incident can call this off at any moment. If rain is in the forecast, wear good shoes with appreciable tread on the soles. We generally plan on playing even if the course is wet assuming there's no lightning or its not raining too hard at tee time. ANY lightning in the vicinity will be an automatic no-play.
