For any student at UAB (grad, med, undergrad, etc.). Tom has been talking with me and I'm sure some of you about getting together a UAB disc golf team to play intercollegiate matches with Samford and BSC. I think it would be great for the community and the sport of disc golf as a whole. I've asked a few golfers I personally know on campus about getting a team together and I'm still looking to recruit a few more. Right now there are four of us. I don't have a limit on the number of players yet as I'm just trying to work out the logisitcs of this. I'll be talking with Tom to setup some tournaments and if I get a large enough participation, may even talk with the intramural office and try and get the team actually backed by the school. Your skill level is not important. This will just be a fun thing to do to try and help promote disc golf in birmingham. If we get this thing going it will likely take place in the spring. Leave me a message here if you're interested in participating or send me an e-mail at keeper4life22@aol.com. Hope to hear from you guys (and girls) soon. Thanks.

Also, for those students interested, UAB is having a intramural disc golf tourney on the 28th of October. You do have to be signed up by the 26th I think. This will be at George Ward.

To get funding and use of the school van for road trips, you have to have a real club on campus. Would somone volunteer to go to that office and get the fill in the blank form. Also, think about a Faculty advisor.
Look for Samford to form a club also.
The Collegiate National Championships will be next spring in Ky. I might be able to help with a little coaching if we can get a team together.

I just put a flyer up for the UAB event. Those players could be the basis of the new club/team.

What's up Jeremy,

This is Jay from Tuscaloosa. Although I'm not still a student, I think that some of our guys here would be interested in fielding a student team too. Let me know if and when this progresses.

hey Jay, yeah that'd be awesome. This is still in the beginning stages so it'll probably be sloppy to start, but I'll keep you informed on our progress. You'll have to give me your number so next time I'm down your way we can hit up the course. I got a chance to play it this past summer... really fun.

Jeremy, Tom,

Check this out for some suggestions on your College League...http://www.wncdiscgolf.com/intercollegiate.htm

Why re-invent the wheel when you can steal, um borrow, ideas from others?

Great link Richard. All we need now is for the student's to form a club so they can get funding for these golf trips. At UF, our club had discs made up with the Gator logo from the school funding.
Samford should have an intrmural event next Spring.
BTW, I have to work on a playground tomorrow, so I will not be able to make the meeting. I really hope you , Bill, Jeremy and Justin can be there to keep our disc golf flag flying. Maybe joe and Tim can show up too. Anyone else who can go will certainly help the cause. Let's try to get some flat land , not a hillside.
Oh yes, the H'ville States were great. Justin, Matt and Tracy. were there and beat some other players.. Jebb looked like he was into some serious golf.
