$50 for INT? wow, I hope there is a good players pack...
Ziggy is wanting to come down for the Sizzler again.
Anyone have room for him to crash from Thursday thru Monday? Hopefully near the course.
You may be hosting the tournament winner if he turns it up just a little bit more this year.

Back to the Tournaments: News at GW. WE have a new bridge between 15 and 16. IT is state of an art, and awesome. Probably about $1,500 worth of time and materials. Thanks to Alex and Alexis for tearing down the old one just in time for Doug and Phillip to bring out the new one. It is super heavy duty. Just ask "The Future", he dug one of the support holes. IT is high enough for lots of water to rush under and strong enough to hold a foursome. Great job guys. Thanks a lot!

I have three questions:
(1) Everyone HAS to wear a collared shirt? I'm coming from Memphis. Is that just for pros or for everyone? If so, I'm gonna need to buy this intermediate player a shirt this week.
(2) 3 rounds for the tournament or 4? I see 3 posted above but notice that last year there were 4.
(3) Does everyone follow the pros through the final nine like spectators? My grandpa lives close to there and I'd love for him to see it.
* * * does anyone have the lengths on the current pin positions? * * *
You guys rock and I can't wait to play these courses. Hell, I was born in Alabama.

Robby,
You can find the PDGA competition manual here: http://www.pdga.com/documents/competition-manual
Here's the dress code section:
C. The following dress code for all competitors will be
enforced at all PDGA National Tour and Major Events. The
PDGA also recommends that this dress code be enforced
at Super Tour and lower tier events, but this decision lies
solely with the Tournament Director:
(1) All players in PDGA sanctioned competition and
tournament staff are expected to dress appropriately
and to maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance
at all event sites and associated functions.
(2) All players must wear a shirt covering their upper
chest area. A well-tailored shirt with a fold-down,
mock turtle, v-neck, crew neck, Henley, or zippered
collar, and with sleeves covering the part of the arm
from the shoulder to the elbow (commonly known as
the upper arm), shall be considered acceptable.
Women are also allowed to wear sleeveless shirts as
designated above.
(3) No tee shirts will be allowed, except for competitors in
the Junior and Amateur divisions during preliminary
rounds only. Juniors and Amateurs shall not wear tee
shirts during semifinal or final rounds. Crew neck or
V-neck shirts made of high-performance or high-tech
materials, such as Dry-Fit, Cool-Max, and others will
be allowed.
(4) Shirts that hang down lower than the bottom hemline
on the player’s shorts shall be tucked in.
(5) No ripped shirts, shorts, pants will be allowed on the
course. This includes unhemmed, torn or cut “vents”
at the shirt collar.

Fatbackbob
06-16-2009, 09:29 AM
So, I guess that means yes, all ams are wearing collared shirts. I know the solution for this: GOODWILL. Hello 1970s worn-in light cotton bright peach striped polo. I'll go find a few today. I can't afford gas and Dri-Fit technology threadwork.
I'm hoping there will be friday doubles / triples. I'll be practicing the courses (I've never played) all day Friday.

I was there when the collered shirt rule was established. It was before dri weave and wickers. Too many wife beater shirts to be seen on TV.
ChrisP.
06-17-2009, 10:50 PM
The reason why it was brought up Tim, is because I'm actually enforcing the dress code this year. Here's a few pics from the event last year...thanks to Art Meripol. Which one(s) would you rather see in the newspaper in an article about Disc Golf?
(apologies to Kevin Peterson & the other guy...probably because it was one of their first events and didn't know, but the pics are good examples)
WE are the face of the sport to the public.
I know it's going to be hot as H-E- Double Hockey sticks, so get a dri-fit shirt with a collar (Solstice sells them...Hint!) ;) and TK is right....a T-shirt cut is ok as long as it is a High-Tech material like dri weave...but it must have sleeves. We'll have plenty of water out there!!

Can someone move hole 4 at GW to the long position and also move Hole D to the long position? I wasn't aware that the "original" on D was the short. Hole 4 was the only other one that wasn't where I need it. If not, I'll get them tomorrow. Are the locks on the back six the same as the 18?
Thanks in advance!

I played Trussville today (Civitan Park). I am from Memphis and played it for the first time. I am confused about one thing. The registration said that "all divisions are playing the same tees".
But the Am tees at Civitan had flags by them which made me wonder if they will be played. I am intermediate and would rather play the pro tees. The Am tees are too short.
Is it true that all divisions will play the same tees. And does that mean we'll all play the cement pro tees at Civitan?
Thanks,
Robby

Someone erased the OB line on #9. The Mando sign is still up. Does this mean players are allowed to tramp through the new bushes and throw shots into the group on #1 tee?
ChrisP.
06-19-2009, 11:46 PM
I did that.
Don't worry....I clearly stated NO MANDO in the player program and to ignore the sign.
If someone tramples the flowers they will definitely be getting a courtesy violation!
I would hate to see an Ace Run or Birdie attempt hit the bucket and roll O.B.! :( That would be a shame.
Have fun at Montevallo tomorrow...don't worry, we'll put everything back the way we found it. ;)

Great job as usual ChrisP and Carrie and all others involved in putting on a great tourney. I thought Ward was lined off great and loved Hole 3. You really had to show a great shot. Thought the layout was very good and the new OB's were an equalizer for all. Loved the way Trussville was laid out as well. I just wish I had a bigger boy arm to play it better.
Enjoyed the camaraderie in the groups I played with and with other disc golfers. Great display of throwing and putting by the Final 5 Pros. Congrats to Jeff Layland for an awesome final 9 shooting 6 down. Can't wait till the next one and also glad everyone was ok and did not give out to heat exhaustion on Saturday.

948, 938, 974 ratings from last round and my overall didnt even go up due to the intermediate players playing two rounds at GW... thats wack... other than that the tournament was a blast :)
ChrisP.
07-22-2009, 10:25 AM
Did Chuck Kennedy tell you that....I doubt it. That doesn't make sense. Your rating is what you shoot period. It doesn't matter what layout other divisions play. The only time that might make a difference is if you're playing the course at the same time and some verry low rated player shoots hot and some high rated player shoots poorly. People need to stop trying to blame their rating on things other than their play.
You still got a nice 826 round rating bringing you down.
