i have a problem...for some reason when i play casual rounds, i can finish a round pretty descent and score and be satisfied with the time spent playing the round....but when i play any orginized event, wether it be for tags or a tournament, i cant seem to get near my original scores.

i know this is probably some jedi mind thing that i need to figure out but can anyone give some good advice on improving tournament play and being in a "tournament" mindset?

ive only been playing for 8 or 10 months and would really appreciate the advice.

How do you play your casual rounds? Do you mark your lie? Do you use the same methods/routines to prepare/execute a shot?

Disc Golf is all muscle memory, so a repeatable set of steps for every action, a muscle trigger, is a huge component.

That's my first suggestion for anyone making the move from casual to tournament golf. Practice like you play, play like you practice.

Think of it as just another casual round.

You also put a huge amount of pressure on yourself by playing Open as an Intermediate player.

I lost all confidence after the 1st round and during the whole 2nd round I had no idea what to even throw anymore. I got mentally worn down and then I lost what little I had left. I could not explain how badly I played. Everything that could go wrong did and it was exacerbated after each throw or missed putt that was in the chains and would not stay. Weird day for me all the way around. Anyone ever gotten that way? You just could not correct or explain what you were doing wrong?

BTW Ryan, you saw how crazy stuff was happening with my game. It was inexplicable.

In a tournament, do what you normally do and have confidence. Sometimes, everything will go wrong. There will be other times that you can't do anything wrong.

I know what I did wrong. I had bad upshots, and I missed some putts that I should have made. I had one two or three drives that weren't in the ideal position to make the upshot. I am planning to practice putting the next two weeks. That will really improve your confidence. Hopefully, I'll do better next time!
