MAYOR TO HAVE TOWN HALL MEETINGS

"Why Birmingham Can't Wait!"

Mayor Larry P. Langford will host a series of Town Hall Meetings
starting this Thursday at 6pm at Boutwell Auditorium. The inaugural
meeting will give citizens a chance to interact with the Mayor, learn
about city initiatives and services and ask questions. The Mayor will
present information on projects that have been completed, projects that
are still underway, and future initiatives that the City needs to propel
it to the next level. Citizens will have a chance to express their
opinion and give feedback.

Along with the meeting, a gallery of citizens' assistance will be
available to provide more information and offer City services.
Representatives from the Negro Baseball League, Friends of Rickwood
Field, The Birmingham Zoo, and JCCEO Head Start will be available to
answer questions and offer more information on various projects.
Demonstrations of the XO Laptops and the City's new website will also
available for citizens and attendants. Staff from the Children's
Healthcare partnership and ALLKids will be in place to provide
information and sign up children who are uninsured that same evening.

There will be other Town Hall meetings at various churches throughout
the community in the weeks to come. Information packets including
neighborhood paving schedules, website tutorials and funding options for
various proposals will be available at each meeting.

"One of the worst things an elected official can do is getting away from
his or her original mission so it is really important to me since this
City is at a crossroads that I touch base from time-to-time with the
people who elected me." Langford said. "This is the perfect opportunity
for me to do that and get some feedback on these projects and really get
a list of what projects will move this City forward. The time is now. We
can't wait," continued the Mayor.

Questions can be submitted in advance via email at opi@birminghamal.gov
or prior to the start of the Town Hall meetings. Fox 6 will do a live
web broadcast of the event.

I actually met the guy once down by the pavillion in GWP (Sunday Feb. 1,2009) and he told me a series of lies. I have no reason to believe he would tell me anything else at these meetings, but you folks are welcome to go and experience his kingship.

Perhaps go see him at his Federal trial instead?
