GW Night game - meet Sept 22 @ 8:00PM (new moon this Fri) and we'll get started around 8:15. Will be playing an earlier daylight round and placing glow sticks on all the baskets just prior to dark. Since all the baskets are in short positions this should be a lot of laughs and a totally different challenge on our home course. We'll do all 24 holes sans-vision :D

*We'll try to stay in groups of 3 or 4 for general safety.

*Bring a flashlight or headlamp. UV (blacklight) is preferrable, but white light is acceptable - depends a lot on how well your disc glows and if you feel comfortable finding it if it gets out of sight...glow discs actually need a good UV light charging prior to throw, plus having a UV lamp helps locate glow discs. If you're taping glow or LED lights to a candy disc, you dont really need a UV black light, but please bring a normal flashlight http://dev.discgolfbirmingham.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gif

*Be sure you either have glow disc(s) or 1.5" LED lights to tape on your candy discs, otherwise you WILL NOT want to play @ night. Tom Monroe has some candy discs on hand in the mobile pro shop for I think $15. I should have 1.5" glow stick minis that can be duct-taped to the inside of a candy disc, two for a buck.

*Bag tag challenges are fair game.

*Play at your own risk, it will be dark and much easier to fall, etc. Let it be known beforehand that 'officially' we're not to be in the park after dark, so a police officer or serious injury/incident can call this off at any moment. Also, rain IS in the forecast (very slightly), so wear good shoes with appreciable tread on the soles in case. We plan on playing even if the course is wet assuming there's no lightning or its not raining too hard at tee time. Lightning will be an automatic no-play.

If you plan on showing up, please post here. For anyone wishing to donate, I put a $2 paypal link on my webpage (http://www.jebb.net). Feel free to donate as many multiples of two as you can do! http://dev.discgolfbirmingham.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gif

I think i'm going to make it! I gotta see if i can wriggle out of some plans for Friday first, haha.

The last night golf event i went to (in Athens) we used LED's that are made to be refills for fish bobbers you use at night. They're about the width of pencil lead and about 1" long. They worked awesome as you could just tape them to the bottom of a candy disc and the whole disc "glowed". I think should be able to get those at any sporting good stores.

Had to change my lightstick order to another company just now, but its in TN so they should be here tomorrow with overnight shipping. Went ahead and added 50 of the tiny 1.5" glow sticks for anyone wishing to duct tape them to a candy disc. I'll be selling them two for a buck.

Jebb,
Nice job on getting things started. We have been talking about this for several weeks wth nothing happening.

I will be there for the early round to help place glow sticks on the baskets. I will also have at least 1 extra black light that I can lend to someone if they have glowie disc. If there is anything else we need to get done, let me know.

It looks like this will be the "First Official Glowie Bag Tag Round" at GW.

The course is set up in it's shortest positions so you can get in a little practice for the Ace Race.;)

Come on out and join us for some nighttime fun and foolishness.:D

added a couple more sentences on the last bullet point about rain, looks like a remote chance we could possibly get wet. I'm still doing it unless there's lightning or a torrential downpour :D

Hopefully I'll be there. I don't own a lot of candy discs...I may just tape a mag light to the top of the disc. Should work fine right...

Bill, I found a Photon putter for you. There are a few other glows in the van also. I should be out Friday afternoon if it's not raining and then 10:00 Sat/Sun.

by the way, whatever I find link-wise I'll post but from what I saw the LED lights were the real way to go if you had candy plastic tonight. Those little snap ones kind of sputtered out a little quicker than I hoped.

Well I started off with birdies on 10,11,12,13 and then proceeded to lose my putt and ended with a -2.
The whole thing was about as much fun as you can have in the dark without a partner.:)
Hope to be able to make Friday Night Flights a regular event now that we have lost our daylight.
I will start looking for a wholesaler for the LEDS so that we can get a better price.
