As a side affect of the ace race all the pins will be in the short position, so be sure to make it out to Doubles at George Ward this Sunday for a chance at the $226+ ace pot!

I am taking sign ups for the Ace Race. It will be Sept31/Oct 1. Two days , two events. Winners on both days. Players pack includes 2 new prototype discs , a hat and a Super Color mini from Discraft. This is the 4th year for this event here. I have ordered 50 packs and if they sell quickly, I'll order more. Last year we had 80 players. About 20 did not get in because they waited too long to sign up. You must sign up in advanced to guarantee a spot.
The course will be set up super short and you will use one of your new discs and try to get an Ace on every hole , the regular 18. One point if you hit metal and 5 points if you hit an Ace. At the end of each day, we will give out prizes based on points. Everyone is a winner. The $20 entry, gets you $50 worth of stuff. the two discs alone are $30 retail. There is a poster on the board. I'll be taking entries from now untill the end of Sept. Don't wait.

As long as you have paid, your pac will be there untill you pick it up, untill Thanksgiving. Up through next weekend will be a pretty sure thing to still get in. I'll be out there and a few people are mailing or doing the PayPal to sign up.

Practice rounds have started for the Ace Race. Today, Ricky Issac and Joe Carter played the 18 and each had one Ace and one metal. One point for a metal hit and 5 points for an Ace. They were last seen going out on the front 9 for a play off.

Bill, since you are only throwing one tee shot on very short fairways on the 18 holes, a single round is about 45 minutes. You should have enough time.

There have been some questions, so here are answers. You can only carry one of the new discs when you play. IF you loose it, your score stands at that point for that round. You can play two rounds in one day. Your total for the two rounds is your total score for the day. Prizes will be awarded at 4:00 each day. Each day is a seperate day. Same prizes both days. There will be a grand prize winner and then about 5 more down, unless Discraft sends more stuff. We are the largest event east of the MS. Only TX has more entries than we do. Right now we are at 103 with 7 spots left.
This will/could be the largest disc golf event we have ever had at GW.
With the Sat. football games, it will probably be busy Sat. morning.
"Official times are 10:00 to 4:00. At 4:00, we give out the prizes for the day. If anyone want's to get an early start I'll be out around 8:30-9:00., both day's.
You must be present to win, or send somone to pick up your booty.

DGB had a great showing at the first day of the Ace Race. Joe Carter was the big winer with Ace's on 3 and 18. Viktor tied Chris Davis for 2nd with an Ace and one metal each. What had to be the play of the day for the tie breaker , Vik parked a perfectly placed hyzer skip shot on the CTP of # 1 and then Chris promptly flew over and off to the right.
There were two more Ace's and 4 double metal's including Justin, Mike Beecham, Matt Farrell and Stan Horn.
Tomorrow is a brand new Ace Race day for everyone who did not play today.
Thanks to everyone who played today. It was very smooth and a lot of fun.

Unless it changed there were two tied at 2 points. 2 metal hits and we threw off for ctp but I couldnt stay all day to wait for the last person to play. Came close tot he ace on both my hits. My first time to actually get to play in an ace race so it was fun. Thanks Tom for running it.
