Well it's offical that Bham will be hosting the southern national doubles championships. It will be sometime in July and be played at both courses. All players are welcome to play but, will be required to have a sn point. No problem there as I will be hosting a few in the near future to help raise funds and make sure everyone has a chance to get points!
The website is almost done and I will post the link asap. As many of you know it will require a group effort to pull this off and I welcome all of you. We all have different skill sets and together we can continue Bham's long history for great events.
First up: artwork??? any of you interested in coming up with the artwork for the funraiser discs?
second: sponsors, i am working on a few but, if everyone brings in a few it would make it a whole lot easier.
Third: I would love to get together as we can to talk about details. anyone have any input on that?
Thanks for reading and I hope we can throw one heck of a DG party here in the ham! bob Satter 587-1805

Bob,
We should schedule an open meeting for anyone in the B'ham community that wants to get involved. Maybe a backroom in one of the restaurants we have ties with. I figure the sooner we get started on this the better!
Looks like a good start to the website. Are you going to register a domain name? I can provide you with webspace as well if needed. I'm by no means a web developer but i do have some basic knowledge, enough to get this site up and going anyway, haha.
Let me know how i can help!

Fantastic news Bob. I know the usual guys will be there to help. And I think with the great work Justin is doing bringing in new guys to our community of disc golfers, Birmingham will put on one helluva SNDC.

I would love a chance to come up witha few designs for the artwork. I have never done that before for a disc though. Can some one give me some limitations or rules on what can or can't be done? Do we have an idea of when SNDC will be?

Mike, the event will be July 07 but, I would love to have the artwork asap as we could have the disc made and start the fund raising process! There are no limits and I hope to have them done in the inncolor process. You can see examples of past artwork on the Innova website.
I would love to see some of Bham or the south represented in the design. Thanks for stepping up and feel free to call me or email me.

Here's the gallery Bob is talking about:
http://www.innovadiscs.com/cfr/Gallery/
As well as the requirments for making an image to fit on the disc:

I like the Birmingham Roc design alot. I wouldn't mind seeing a run of something in DX of those to sell as fundraiser/give as am prizes at the event, assuming that artwork isn't trademarked or such.

Joe and myself have talked and he is going to get more DX Rocs stamped with the Vulcan logo pretty soon. You may want to go through joe on any disc we get because i'm pretty sure he can get the best price for them because he is sponsored by INNOVA ya know.

Don't they limit the number of discs you can order over at Innova based on the Tier level of your event?

Those are pretty cool Chris.
I like the idea for the sign....if you could get the sign smaller and maybe show the silloute of a disc golfer...or his back with a quadshock bag walking past the sign that would be awesome. Kind of like the picture of Arnette here (http://www.discgolfbirmingham.com/files/TGG_2006/pictures/YE3C2776-web.jpg), in the red, except maybe walking away with the sign to his right...
If Bob doesn't use that I deffinetly will...lol

i like that idea justin. i'll have a look at it tonight or tomorrow night.
the sign one is still a little rough. i threw it together kinda quickly when i found that picture (which is of a sign on greensprings, by the way)

I like the street sign disc design!
I have to say that a moonshot of Vulcan would be AWESOME for the disc! Nothing says "Southern Nationals Disc Golf" quite like a giant naked male buttocks.

Those are much better than I feel like I can do. My Fav is the street sign. I like the idea of a disc golfer what about getting Vulcan in the background to help cement the fact that the SNDC is in BHAM this year and it needs to be 2007 not 2006 on the year.
Michael Armstrong
and balance the overall image in the center a bit more, voila

Looks like number one is the early favorite. Yes it should say 07 and im sure that is an easy fix!
Josh, I like the Vulcan thought but, my art skills are like my DG game:(

I am sure there are several people willing to help out with the artwork if you get an idea you really want to try out.

vulcan in quad shocks. got it. (im kidding. kind of).

there's still plenty of rough spots...if you decide this is the way you want to go i'll vector-ize the sign and find that elusive street sign font for authenticity.
