Veterans Memorial Park in Florence

Does any body know anything about Verterans Memorial Park in Florence? A friend of mine (John Essinger) thought that he heard a rummer that the course there was going to be taken out. IS that True? Can some let me or him (if you know him) what's going on or how to find out?

There have been many rumors about the park in Florence for as far back as i can remember. I'm sure Will can come on here and give a better description of whats going on but for the present time the park will stay. In the event the park has to go the city of Florence is likely to provide funding for a new course.
