If you think you have game and the time I would recommend this event. It is essentially the SNPM all over again and thier courses are a real good challenge. Its a good test of your mental game to hold it together for all 4 rounds. Wish I could go.

Sounds like a great event, but please come to Tuscaloosa. :)

I'll probably come to T-town. No offense, but after playing a lot of 4 course tournaments I'm not a fan, no matter how good the courses are.

I'm just hitting all regional club sites getting the word out.

I understand you northern boys playing in T-Town. I will get up there to play one day. (I would have played Solstice, but I'm running COM. It's been the second weekend of March since forever).

Good luck in Tuscaloosa. Maybe one day the clubs of Bama can plan ahead so no tourneys conflict.

No offense taken Tiger. I don't know if you've played any in Mobile, but with four courses within 20 minutes of each other and all in the city limits, we feel that a true City Championship should incorporate the best we have to offer.

I personally love multi course tournaments. Gives me a chance to add to my list of courses played. (currently at 59)

ETA, if like one day tournaments at one course, check out the Citronelle Safari on May 17 (with doubles on the 18th).

Citro is about 45 minutes from us and rarely played by Mobile players except tournaments. It is considerd by many to be the most challenging of our courses and loved by many. Hope to see your game down here one day.

I see this as impossible to be honest. Last year between late March and Early Nov there was a tourney within driving distance of Birmingham every single weekend. I totally understand where you're coming from, but the floodgates appear opened ;)

I hope to get down yall's way soon, I still havent played any disc golf down south.

Anyhow, 2008 is shaping up be the busiest tourney season yet!

Mobile is an awesome place to play. It does indeed suck that it's _just_ far enough to require overnight stay.

I'm definitely getting down that way for a tourney or two this year. I had to much fun at SNAC/SNPC a couple years back.

yeah unfortunately I've only gotten a chance to play cottage hill. I've heard good things about the other courses and hope to make it down there to play sometime (whenever med school gives me a break :p). I'm sure we'll have a couple bham peeps make the trip. And yeah, I know I'm pretty much in the minority when it comes to not wanting multi-course tournaments. But to each his own and if you have em ya may as well use em.

I see this as impossible to be honest. Last year between late March and Early Nov there was a tourney within driving distance of Birmingham every single weekend.

I'm not necessarily talking about traveling to closer tourneys, but actual in-state tourneys that run the same dates. Mobile only has a handful of larger tourneys, and they've been established on certain dates for awhile. (COM, Smackdown, COM Doubles, Howler).

I love coming up to Huntsvegas and Bham. I'd love to get to Tuscaloosa and Athens. It just seems lately we seem to conflict.

I understand that not being PDGA sanctioned has a lot to do with it. It's just hard because our local PDGA membership is abysmal. And now it's even harder with $10 a pop.

The COM was PDGA sanctioned for 10 years. I even found some old results on their site. But JoeS stopped a few years back, and when he retired and I took over the tournament, it was just something that wasn't addressed.

I have a plan in place to make next year's a B-tier, with MADGA springing to pay all club members $10 fee. Hopefully, I can get the other state TDs to not schedule one for that weekend and y'all can get down here.

With the PDGA Competition Endowment Program the club won't even have to pay! The PDGA will waive the fees. Any tournament in Mobile would be a shoe in to have their application approved.;)

Sorry about the conflicting dates Willie. It was not my intention to double date y'all. Seems like there are events every weekend everywhere. I did only check the PDGA schedule for events last year though.:o

Good luck with the COM and hopefully we'll get to play together again!

Instead of your club paying entry fees, why not take advantage of the Compitition Endowment Program. You can call it a charity event and have all PDGA fees waived up to $350, you just need to match the amount waived with a charitable donation.

I haven't looked into the specifics of that program yet. Truthfully, I haven't looked into anything except my playing schedule for this year. I'm only running two tourneys this year, yet I'll be playing about 40!

I will get the CoM back up there in great southeast PDGA tournaments. (It just may only happen after my knees finally give out and I can't play at a high level any more)

I got to put another plug in for this tourney. Its worth the travel, Mobile folks are like every other group of DG's, good to play with. The courses can kick your a$$ which is always a positive in my book. Go on down and get humbled. Willie you seem to have run any tourney I am there for no matter which one it is so thanks. I'll be back sometime.
