I once stumbled on a website that had an layout/map of the George Ward course. Does anyone happen to have the URL to that page?

Unfortunatly the old website disapeared and I'm not sure where the content is. The course diagram is something i've been asked about twice in the last week so I'm going to put that at the top of my projects list.

Since the C21 got pushed back I should be able to spend some time on that next month, hopefully we'll have something soon.

If there are any web guru's out there that have a good approach to an interactive map (flash? ajax?) let me know.

Muahahah, I knew I snaked all those pics for a reason! :D

(sorry it doesn't have the extension holes, but pretty good drawings whoever did them - and they dont have all the pin placements)

Oh i got those....these were OLD...like pre-this site. I might actuall use those as the base for the drawing though...good idea.

Justin,

I've got some powerpoint type graphics (very primitive) of all the holes. I'll send them to you when I get a chance. If memory serves me, I updated most of them with the new pin placements and distances.

The old DGB website had photographic views of the eighteen original holes with little photoshop arrows drawn pointing to the baskets and cute captions describing the holes. Don't know who did them or how we can get copies.

I like the idea of using an actual googlemaps type overhead view to create a course map and also including individual hole graphics like many other clubs do on their websites. Anybody with some talent care to attempt that?

That was my initial plan, then have clickable links inside that image. I'm probably going to start on that sometime next week.

yeah you should see them in motion. its quite disconcerting.

google earth pro rocks. but to make one interactive you'd want to mess around with the google maps api. its html, which i make it a point not to touch.

i have sent in a few pics of our course to them, gotta send a few more and they';ll make us one

Intresting, I like thier concept. I don't necessarly like the google maps API involvement (I've always thought that was a bit cludgy), but i might be able to do that myself in flash given enough time and patietence.

If there is someone else out there with a bit of flash knowledge drop me an email @ jlittrell@gmail.com and maybe we can team up and knock it out.

I know some flash, but really just enough to be dangerous. I could probably do it easier in html, plus it would be much more compatible since many people out there disable flash (esp in the corp world).

Yeah, that was my origional thought as well. However flash is pretty...lol.

Actually, what i'm thinking right now is a basic "top down" image with the lines drawn in like this -> http://cf.unc.edu/discgolf/images/course.jpg

With each tee/basket as a clickable with target=_new and a photo attached. That would be for our non flash peeps and would probably be the first thing i got working. Then below the main image or in another link would be the flashed based "pretty" tour.

i really like that playdg.com site... gives you a feel for the holes.

i love seeing all those wide open courses in the midwest. i can therefore make a judgment that we are playing "real" disc golf down here in the dirty, tree-filled south.

to drift across threads- i'm currently battling a sinus infection so it is possible my beloved 14 will remain safe. i recognize that it is near a travesty for me to still have it, and will hopefully be ready to assume the late 30's by saturday.

i got plans on #15 though. i love that peninsula.

(i looked it up, thats how you spell it)

Hey Justin, I did the original illustrations off of aerial photos from terraserver and using powerpoint. These files are attached (I think?) but are not interactive. I like the idea of having links to photos. Have you seen the Kansas City disc golf site? Check this out:

http://www.kcfdc.org/courses.html

Hit a course and "Walk the course". It looks like this was produced by playdg.com. They don't have images linked to a map, but I like their presentation

Yeah, I like the palydg flash. They found a way to deal with multiple pin placesments which is something i was trying to figure out.

I didn't see the attachment joe but if you want to email it to me that would be cool.
