Who's Mek?
I hope its his imaginary friend...that would be awesome. Vik and Mek...sweet.
As far as what needs to be done just some basic cleanup. I'm going to be out tommorrow around 5:30 playing a round with my trashbag in hand. Will probably do the same Thursday and/or Friday as well.
Viktor is going to meet me one day (i hope) and use his key to move a couple baskets (5 short, 11 medium, 15 island, this is a "new player tourny" after all)
Richard is down for water and a cooler and I've got another one covered so we should be good there.
As far as anything else, if you have some unthrown plastic i can give as CTP's or a old mini's that we can give to new players that would be great. I'll probably need a couple hands on Saturday morning with signup but since this is "casual" maybe it wont' be to bad. I've never done this so bear with me.
Bob, I pretty sure TK is playing. Haven't asked Joe. Addie talked like she wanted to come so that might mean Chad. I'd like to see a _few_ pro's out just to show the new guys that the pro's around here have an interest in the developing golfers of the area, so if you have the morning free it'd be cool to see ya out.

Awesome,
thanks guys!
As far as the plastic goes just anything you might have laying around that you know you aren't going to throw. I just want to give away alot of CTP's at this event to get people talking. I want each person that comes to this event to tell all the other golfers that didn't make it what they missed. So far that i don't need the best plastic, just lots of plastic...haha.

Hey Justin, there is a 22% chance that I'll be there and not playing at our End of Summer Ultimate tourney. If I can't make it, I'll get some plastic to you somehow.

I should have checked the BUDA schedule before setting the date!

Justin,
Were you planning on making this a wide open DGB Bag Tag challenge? In other words, is there a chance that the distribution will totally change in relation to how one finishes in this tournament? Or will they only change within one's foursome? I thought that we had discussed the possibility of the first situation being the case. How about it?

All bagtags will be put into a hat and will given out according to where you finish. also richard, bring that basket with you if you still want to donate it!

Hello every one,
I have been playing for about a year very cassually. I love the sport and want to get into it more and make myself a better player. I am looking forward to this weekend. My only question is what's up with the bag tags? Can some one explain these to me? Thanks
Justin L

Richard,
Yep, you'll turn in your tag when you pay your entry and they will be passed out at the end.
Armstrong,
Bag tags are numbered tags which can be purchased from myself or Tom for $5. The $5 goes to benefit disc golf in Birmingham via course improvements and such.
Basically they're a ladder ranking system. Lets say you and I play. You have #20 and I have #10. You would "challenge" me for my tag and we would play a round of golf. If you win I surrender my #10 tag to you and take your #20. It works the same if you have more than 2 people with tags. they are just redistributed based on finishing order. Obviously the object is to get as low a number as you can.
Here is a full post on the rules of the bag tag challenge - http://www.discgolfbirmingham.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97
Basically they're just a way to support your local club and a way to "keep score" between you and your friends.
Look forward to seeing you Saturday, its going to be lots of fun!

what are ctp's?
Justin L
07-25-2006, 04:10 PM
CTP = Closest to the Pin
Basically whoever lands closest to the basket from the tee wins.
It's a popular way to give out prizes at tournaments. The hole will be one that all players can reach, maybe #1 medium or short or 15 on the island, etc.

If anyone has a pickup or knows someone who has a pickup that can meet me out there Friday I could use some help getting a picnic table from the pavillion near 16 up to the parking area near 1/10. If we can do it sometime firday afternoon/evening maybe the parks people won't see it and take it back...haha.

That pickup would be good to move 15 also. I'll look for one tomorrow.

Justin, I have a 6ft portable table if that would be helpfull. Do you have a scoreport? Call me 587-1805 and we shalll see what can be done.

Bob, If you've got the extra truck space that might not be a bad idea. I'm pretty sure someone will grab one from the pavillion but it wouldn't hurt to have a fallback.
Thanks!

Unfortunatly the rain kept me out this afternoon. I'll probably be there a little after 8 tommorrow to get started with some prep work if anyone else is going to be up. I think all i need to do is paint some lines on 5, 12, & 17 and maybe clean the tee-pad on 2 & 14.
