...as far as playing a different course than GW. Got out to Dallas this weekend and played 18 twice @ BB Owen park then played the front 9 once more. Really fun very open course with minimal trees on the front nine - quite different than playing GW.

Now I gotta get out to Trussville and also up to Huntsville :) Safe to say I'm hooked and now have a new hobby.

Any advice for over-extended elbow by the way?

Do not throw it so many times per round! :)

Jebb,

Where is your elbow hurting? On the outside or the inside? Most elbow injuries in disc golf involve one of 3 injuries. 1. Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) 2. Biceps tendonitis and 3. Medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow). Hyperextension of the elbow is very rare as the ulna prevents it. You could concievably bruise the ulna or humerous, but it is very unlikely.

All three are treated, as TK said by rest, ice, and non steroidal anti-inflammatories i.e. advil, mobic, or in yesteryear, Vioxx. The best way to prevent these problems is by stretching prior to a round.

PS If you want to try a different course, come to Hartselle July 15 for the TVT. 5 dollar entry and it is only 1 hour north of B'ham. SHAMELESS PLUG!

Josh, if I hold my right arm straight out in front of me with my palm facing the sky I can see a pretty nice bruise and some pretty good swelling on the left side of my elbow. I absolutely cannot straighten out my arm right now. Hurts pretty good, but I went out and played 18 at GW yesterday anyways. I sucked bigtime with many short throws, but my addiction overruled the pain! Now I'll take a break again for 5 days or so since I'm headed out of town until the 4th, hopefully by then I'll be good to go again (and hopefully I dont find any more new courses to play while I'm in Orlando hahaha).

Jebb,

I guess in the addict's vernacular, I'm what is called an enabler:D . In case you didn't already know, you can go to the PDGA's website, http://www.pdga.com, and click on the course directory link. You'll find three courses in Orlando and a handful of courses probably within a thirty minute drive. Sometimes, you just gotta throw.

Thanks for the advice, thats how I found the Dallas course earlier this week.

Anyhow, no throwing for me until I get back from seeing the woman - she would kill me if I even suggested it! (plus my arm really needs the rest)

Sounds like medial epicondylitis (that's just a tendonitis (pulled muscle) of the muscles that "flex" the wrist). When your arm is straight in front of you and your palm facing up, pull your hand down, bending your wrist backward and keeping your elbow straight. If you have pain on the left side of your arm, it is probably medial epicondylitis. The bruising concerns me though.

Definitely give it some rest and take some alieve or advil. Ice it when it hurts. If the pain doesn't go away in a couple of weeks, you might want to see an orthopedic surgeon. Don't waste your time with a GP.

Going to an OS is great advice, but most insurance want's you to see your GP and get referred to the OS. The bruise is weird.
There might be some adjusting to the actual throw that could prevent this from happening again. No one should have to stop playing from an injury.
